Richard’s Layout

Got my Barnstaple working fine now – thanks to you and all your step by step advice!
Here’s a few shots of my layout – it is 8 x5 ft, based on a plan I found in an old HRCA mag.

The LMS N2 tank I did as a renovation attempt on a scrap body, the Silver King I had as a

boy and still goes fine, the Farish Prairie was dublo wheeled and 3 railed for me by Dennis,

dublo surgeon. Runs ok but very noisy!

Have found great pleasure in fixing old models, usually not too bad as so well made in first place!
Many thanks

  1. I can recommend Mr Goode at Scalespeed. He has been servicing my tank engines and an immense improvement. My 0-6-2Ts have at least 25 years work on my system and perhaps 40 years old when I bought them from Marcway, Sheffield.

    1. thanks for the info David. just noticed you had left a note re my noisy farish prairie! Does run well now, quite fast but still noisy at slow speeds. maybe its the old five pole motor?

have been experimenting with my n2s. Discovered how much quieter they run when you oil the bottom and top bearings! Thas something i found out via ron dodds maintenance video!
